UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI PRIZES PRESENTATION 2019

Over the years, the University of Nairobi has continued to recognize students from various faculties, who have demonstrated exemplary academic performance, through cerebration of the academic excellence and presentation of prizes. The prizes which are in the form of certificates, trophies or shields and cash are donations from individuals, some of whom are staff in the University, companies/firms and families. On Friday 10th May 2019, the University presented prizes to students who performed very well in the academic years 2015/2016 and 2016/2017. The prize presentation ceremony was held at Taifa Hall, University of Nairobi. Some of the awardees were accompanied by their parents, guardians, friends and relatives. 

 

The ceremony was graced by the University’s Vice-Chancellor Prof. Peter Mbithi and some of the donors. It was presided over by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs) Prof. Ju;ius Ogeng’o and in attendance were other Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Prof. Isaac Mbeche, Prof. Stephen Kiama and Prof. Madara Ogot, College Principals and other members of the University Senate.

 

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has always participated in this ceremony and the year 2019 was no exception. Outstanding students from the faculty were cerebrated and presented with the following awards:

 

1.      GANDHI SMARAK NIDHI TRUSTEE FUND

 

A prize of Ksh. 10,000 to Nyakundi Joseph Ondari (J36/4803/2013) for being the best student in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in the 2015/2016 Academic Year.  

 

2.      ULTRAVETIS EAST AFRICA LIMITED

A prize of Ksh. 5,000 and a shield to the best final year student in veterinary Clinical Studies, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

 

2015/2016       Mulwa Nancy Ndinda (J30/1561/2011)

2016/2017       Omondi Akoth Hellen (J30/2249/2012)

 

3.      KENYA VETERINARY BOARD

A prize of Ksh. 10,000 and a trophy to be retained in the faculty and a miniature replica of the same to the best final year student in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

 

2015/2016       Wanjala W. Nahashon (J30/2089/2011)

2016/2017       Kirwa Kipchumba Elly (J30/2296/2012)

 

 

4.      PROF. G.M. MUGERA PRIZE

A trophy to be retained in the faculty and Ksh. 3,000 to the best 2nd year student in General Pathology in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

 

2015/2016       Almeida Averil Bemvinda (J30/55653/2012)

2016/2017       Mwangi Kelvin Maina (J30/2426/2015)

 

5.      CENTRAL ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION STATION PRIZE

A trophy to be retained in the faculty and Ksh. 5,000 to the best 5th year student in Theriogenology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

2016/2017       Njoroge Njenga Edward (J30/2264/2012)

 

6.      THE NORBROOK AWARD

A prize of Ksh. 5,000 and a trophy for the best final year student in the course of Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

 

2015/2016       Wanjala W. Nahashon (J30/2089/2011)

2016/2017       Serem Essau Kipyego (J30/3592/2012)

 

7.      PROF. KIAMA GITAHI AWARD

A prize of Ksh. 10,000 and a trophy to be retained in the faculty to the best first year student who achieved the highest marks in Histology and Embryology in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

2016/2017       Ochieng Akinyi Veronica (J30/2647/2016)

 

8.      PROF. PETER MBITHI & FAMILY PRIZE

A prize of Kshs. 25,000 and a revolving trophy (to be maintained at the Faculty) to the best student in Veterinary Surgery, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

9.      PROF. GILBERT J.O. AGUMBA AWARD IN THERIOGENOLOGY

A prize of Kshs. 10,000 and a revolving trophy (to be maintained at the Faculty) to the best student in Theriogenology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
