The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Nairobi, will hold its 3rd Annual International Scientific Conference during the University of Nairobi’s 2025 Research and Innovation Week. The theme of this Conference is: “Advancing animal resource sub-sector through research and innovation in a dynamic landscape". This conference aims to bring together experts from various fields to share best practices and the latest advancements in Veterinary Science, animal health and production, wildlife, fisheries and aquaculture management, through conference presentations and exhibitions.
Conference sub-themes:
1. Animal disease surveillance and epidemiological research
2. Drugs and antimicrobial resistance research
3. Animal diseases, re-emerging zoonoses, and one health
4. Aquaculture and fisheries management
5. Wildlife, animal welfare and community engagement
6. Innovations in veterinary diagnostics, vaccines, and practice
7. Livestock value chains, food and feed safety
8. Innovations in livestock production and feeding
Who should attend?
Researchers, trainers, industry experts, government officials and students in the fields of veterinary, animal health, wildlife, fisheries, aquaculture and environment. This will be a hybrid even comprising of both physical in person attendance at Wangari Maathai Institute (WMI), Kabete, Nairobi and Live stream option for virtual participants and speakers.
Conference Dates
The conference will run from 22nd to 24th October, 2025.
Conference venue: Physical at the Wangari Maathai Institute, Upper Kabete Campus of the University of Nairobi, and Virtually through Zoom Platform The link, which will be provided to the registered participants.
Corporate Social Responsibility activity: A vaccination Camp will be organized for the community around the Kabete Campus (at Uthiru Chief’s Office) on 25th October 2025 and all participants are welcome to participate
Guidelines for preparation of full papers, posters and power point presentations
Full papers
Full papers should have a title (13-18 words), authors, affiliation of authors, corresponding author and contact email, abstract, Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, Conclusions, recommendations and References (maximum of 30 most recent and relevant references (APA style of referencing will be used).
An abstract of the full paper should have the following sub-titles: Background, methods, key results, conclusions, recommendations, Key words. The papers should be submitted to the secretariat by October 1, 2025.
Posters
Presenters to prepare posters of size 90x120 cm with legible font. Title 80-85pt, Authors 56-60pt: Subheadings: 45-54pts, text 24-32pt an legend/footnote, 18-20pts.
The poster should have a title, author(s), affiliation, background information, methods, Key findings, conclusions, recommendations and references and acknowledgments if any. The posters should be ready for mounting at the venue on 22 October 2025
Power point presentations: Conference papers will be presented on PowerPoint. Presenters should prepare a maximum of 16 power point sides for their presentations and share with the secretariat by 15th October 2025.
Registration for participation.
Participants will be required to register for the conference by paying fees indicated in table 1 below. The registration fees will cater for conference writing materials for all participants and lunch and teas for the three conference days for in person participants.

Participant certificates
All participants (both physical and virtual will receive certificate of participation at the end of the conference.
Participant veterinarians and paraprofessionals will qualify for up to 20 CPD points.

Information for international participants
International participants intending to participate physically should register for the conference and apply for an invitation letter from the secretariat to facilitate in processing of travel documents.
To travel to Kenya, you need a valid passport (for at least six months, with two blank pages), an approved Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), and a return or onward ticket. Obtain your eTA from the official Kenya eTA website before traveling. You must also provide proof of financial support, have a yellow fever vaccination certificate if arriving from certain countries, and take precautions against mosquito-borne illnesses. While in Kenya, protected yourself from mosquito bites by wearing long sleeves in the evening and using insect repellent.
