Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

The University of Nairobi held a Student Recognition Ceremony on May 8, 2026, during which outstanding students from the various faculties were recognized and awarded in different categories.

On May 21, 2026, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine was honored to host one of its donors, Prof. Peter Mbithi, who presented the Prof. P. Mbithi Family Prize — a revolving trophy and a cash prize of Kshs. 25,000 — to Mwangi Angel Nangira, the best overall student in Veterinary Surgery in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

On March 25th, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine was privileged to host a delegation from the Uganda Veterinary Council.

The main purpose of the visit was to benchmark on the following key area:

• Matters of Curriculum Development and Recognition between our Faculty and the Uganda Veterinary Council.

The visit provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and strengthen collaboration in veterinary education and professional standards.

On March 6, 2016, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine had the privilege of receiving a delegation from Elyn Agrifoods Kenya to discuss pig farming and potential opportunities within Kenya. The visit provided an avenue for exploring strategic collaboration and capacity-building initiatives

The University shall hold the FY 2025/2026 Performance Contract (PC) Signing Ceremony alongside the 2024/2025 Staff Recognition Awards as part of its continued commitment to excellence, accountability, and high performance in service delivery.

Monday 25th February 2026, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine was pleased to receive a delegation from the University of Liège, Belgium, for a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening academic collaboration and fostering institutional
partnerships.

PROJECT LAUNCH AND LABORATORY TRAINING ON COLISTIN MIC TESTING AND QUALITY CONTROL

In the frame of the ADVALUE project – Advancing Sustainable Agricultural Value Chains through Strengthening Transdisciplinary Skills and Cooperation in East African Doctoral Education, the University of Nairobi organized a one-week physical training event on Sustainable Rangeland Management.

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Nairobi, proudly celebrates a historic moment
in student leadership following the victory of Jan Sydney Kigen Sang in the UNSA 2025/2026
elections. Jan has made history by becoming the first-ever Governor elected from Third Year,
and remarkably, the first individual to serve two consecutive terms as Governor of the Faculty,
both through highly contested elections.
