The University of Nairobi scooped 7 trophies and many prize certificates at this year’s Nairobi International Trade Fair 2023 (NITF). The University was crowned number 1 in the category of the Best Stand that interpretes the current show theme (Education and Research), The Best stand in Youth Activities, Empowerment and Capacity Building. The University was position 2 in the Best University Stand and The Best stand embracing ICT systems.
The other 3 trophies were for Farm and Dairy Section, Poultry Section and Rabbits Section.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama received the award from President William Ruto on Wednesday and while going through the stand, he congratulated all the staff for the commitment in showcasing the University’s endeavours at the showground. He encouraged the staff to continue in their journey of excellence and lifting the University’s brand.
Dr. George Abong’, Chair of the Show Committee also congratulated all members of staff and students that participated in the exhibition of various projects within the University stand. He noted, ‘This year, the competition was stiff but the University of Nairobi generally improved in ranking as compared to last year.’ He also remarked, ‘This year we were winners in the category of interpreting the current show theme. This is the class that we always enroll for but rarely win.’
The theme for this year’s Trade Fair was, ‘Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture in Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth.’The Nairobi International Trade Fair 2023 was not just a showcase of products but also a celebration of ideas, innovation, and the pursuit of sustainable solutions to critical challenges. The University of Nairobi's outstanding performance in various categories was a testament to our commitment to advancing knowledge, addressing pressing issues, and fostering youth empowerment.
As the event came to a close on Sunday, 1st October, it left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of attendees.
