DEPT. OF ANIMAL PRODUCTION TREE PLANTING INITIATIVE.

On April 25, 2025, the dedicated staff of our department participated in a tree planting exercise at University of Nairobi Vet Farm, Kanyariri. This initiative was part of our commitment to environmental conservation and creating a greener, healthier future. By planting trees, we are helping to restore natural habitats, combat climate change, and enhance the beauty of our surroundings.

VET. PATHOLOGY TREE PLANTING INITIATIVE.

In alignment with the National Tree Growing Restoration Campaign and in compliance with Presidential Directives aimed at growing 15 billion trees nationwide by the year 2032, the Department of Veterinary Pathology, Microbiology and Parasitology conducted a successful tree-growing exercise on May 9, 2025, at the Kanyari Veterinary Farm.

NGONG TECHNICAL TRAINING COLLEGE FACULTY ACADEMIC VISIT

Thursday 6th March 2025, students from Ngong Technical Training College visited the Faculty of Vet. Medicine and Faculty of Agriculture for a one day Academic trip on practical laboratory skills on various topics

The students were welcomed by Dr. Kipyegon fro Dept. of Clinical studies and then Prof. Mande, Dean Faculty of Veterinary Medicine gave an introductory speech.

The students were divided into four groups and they visited various labs in the two faculties for the practical skill demonstrations.

KENYA SCHOOL OF TVET FACULTY ACADEMIC TRIP

Thursday 27 February 2025, students from Kenya School of TVET visited the Faculty of Vet. Medicine and Faculty of Agriculture for a one day Academic trip on practical laboratory skills on various topics

FRENCH EXCHANGE STUDENTS

The faculty of Veterinary medicine (FVM) is excited to welcome a group of exchange students from Unilasalle, France. The 5 veterinary undergraduate students will join our students during coursework for the duration of this semester. Further, the French students will be participating in various academic and extracurricular activities, sharing their experiences, and learning from our activity rich campus environment. We promise a fulfilling and memorable semester.

UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI COUNCIL VISIT TO FACULTY

The University of Nairobi Council on Monday 16, 2024 visited the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine to gain an in-depth understanding of its academic processes, research initiatives, and supporting infrastructure.

The Council was received by the Dean and Faculty management committee members, where the Dean introduced them to the council.

During the visit, they explored the faculty’s academic programs, and overall quality assurance mechanisms.

UNIVERSITY OF HELSINKI TEAM FACULTY VISIT

A team from the University of Helsinki visited the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Nairobi on December 5, 2024. The delegation was led by Annamari Heikinheimo, Associate Professor of Zoonotic Antimicrobial Resistance at the University of Helsinki, Research Professor at the Finnish Food Authority, and Vice-Director of Helsinki One Health (HOH).

SECOND FACULTY OF VET. MEDICINE ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE, 2024

The second Annual International Scientific conference was a three-day blended event that was
held from 30th October to 1st November, 2024 within the time frame of the Nairobi Research
Week. The theme of the conference was: “Harnessing Research in Veterinary Science for
Resilience and Sustainability of Communities” The opening of the conference was graced by
the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research Innovation and Enterprise in the company of Dean,
faculty of Veterinary Medicine. It was combined with a Corporate Social Responsibility activity
