As the University of Nairobi celebrates its 50 years of academic excellence, the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences (CAVS) recognizes the exceptional contribution of Prof. Willis Oluoch-Kosura from the Department of Agricultural Economics. During the last four decades of distinguished service to the University, Willis has formed many collaborative partnerships for capacity building and resource mobilization, and continues to play an important professional role in mentoring many young staff in the networks developed over time. Globally, he received the prestigious honor of ‘Life member’ of the International Association of Agricultural Economists (IAAE) at the triennial conference held in Beijing China in August 2009. He serves in the editorial board of IAAE’s premier journal ‘Agricultural Economics’. Within the African continent, he is considered to be one of the key founders of the African Association of Agricultural Economists (AAAE) that was inaugurated on the 9th of December 2004. Willis is also among the pioneers of the Collaborative Masters in Agricultural and Applied Economics (CMAAE) programme that has consistently provided unique capacity building in various aspects of applied economics and equipped many young researchers with practical skills for research and policy analysis during the last 16 years. The college is proud to have Willis as one of its pillars for continued growth and transformation.
