Description

Prof. Susan W. Mbugua graduated with the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (UoN), Master of Science (Colorado State University) and PhD (UoN) in Veterinary Clinical Studies. She retired at the rank of Professor of Veterinary Surgery in the Department of Clinical Studies, having risen through the ranks from the position of Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor and Professor. She has taught undergraduate and postgraduate students in all aspects of Veterinary Surgery, on topics such as ophthalmology, neurology, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery and diagnostic imaging, particularly radiology. Prof. Mbugua has supervised 4 PhD and 8 Masters Students’ Projects to completion. She has published over 30 scientific papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presented several conference papers. She has served as Chairperson of the Kenya Veterinary Board, and has been a committed Member and official of the Kenya Veterinary Association, including serving as a Founding Chairperson of the Kenya Small and Companion Animal Veterinary Association. Prof. Mbugua has also served as Panelist and Chairman of the Kenya Veterinary Board – East African Hip Dysplasia Scheme, which has recently been reorganized and established under the Kenya Small and Companion Animal Veterinary Association. Prof. Mbugua has been recognized and honored by professional peers and colleagues and has cut her legacy in Small Animal Practice at the St. Austin Veterinary Clinic, Nairobi County, Kenya.
