The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine hosted a One Health symposium on November 24, 2023 in the Seminar room Clinical Studies Department. The symposium innovatively brought together students from the Faculties of Veterinary Medicine and Health Sciences UoN to discuss Clinical case scenarios within the paradigm of one Health. The cases were covered in a two-way knowledge exchange platform that integrated group work and plenary case discussions that interfaced with Jeopardy game of categorized incrementally weighted question and answer. The symposium was graced by Prof J. D. Mande, the Dean of FVM and was planned and coordinated by Prof Peter K. Gathumbi of the Department of Veterinary Pathology Microbiology and Parasitology. The convener of the symposium was Prof Kathy Gabrielson, a veterinary pathologist from John Hopkins University. She was supported by key staff from the two faculties. The staff were: from Faculty of Veterinary Medicine - Prof Peter K. Gathumbi, Prof George Chege Gitao; Dr. T.AO. Abuom; Dr. G. Aboge; Dr. J. Tangus, and Mrs. Ann Kangai Munene; from Faculty of Health Sciences: Dr. Mary Ann Mureithi and Dr. Edwin O. Walong. Dr. Edward Gabrielson from John Hopkins University contributed in the event. The symposium provided the faculty and students a platform for knowledge exchange in one health and opportunities for future collaboration.
