The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Nairobi, Held its 3 rd Annual International Scientific
Conference from Wednesday October 21 – Friday October 24, 2025.
The Conference was officially opened by Prof. John D. Mande, Ag. Deputy Vice-Chancellor Human
Resources and Administration on behalf of the Vice- Chancellor. The VC appreciated the Faculty of
Veterinary Medicine and the Conference organizing committee for their dedication and commitment
noting that the Conference was in line with the University’s core Mandate of Teaching, Research,
Innovation and enterprise as it was a fora for sharing research findings.
The VC further appreciated the contributors of research papers and the audience in general for deciding to
be part of this important activity. She further appreciated the Conference Sponsors namely: Brooke EA,
Ceva Animal Health, Flygene, Atlantis Life Science, Surgipharm and Vet Now for offering financial
support that enabled the Conference to take place.
The VC wished all fruitful deliberations during the Conference.
The theme of the Conference was : “Advancing animal resource sub-sector through research and
innovation in a dynamic landscape".
The Conference coincided with the University of Nairobi’s 2025 Research and Innovation Week and it brought together Researchers, Academic Staff, students and professionals from within and outside Kenya.
This conference brought together experts from various fields to share best practices and the latest advancements in Veterinary Science, animal health and production,
wildlife, fisheries and aquaculture management, through conference presentations and exhibitions.
TheConference had 8 sub-themes:
(1) Animal disease surveillance and epidemiological research
(2)Drugs and antimicrobial resistance research
(3) Animal diseases, re-emerging zoonoses, and one health
(4) Aquaculture and fisheries management
(5) Wildlife, animal welfare and community engagement
(6)Innovations in veterinary diagnostics, vaccines, and practice
(7) Livestock value chains, food and feed
safety
(8) Innovations in livestock production and feeding.
