The Mid-term performance review and cascading of the strategic plan (2023-2027) took place on Tuesday 11th March 2025 at the Department of Clinical Studies Seminar Room.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof Margaret Hutchinson made a welcome remarks where she appreciated the participation of all staff to this noble activity of the University of Nairobi making a milestone to ensure the understanding the strategic plan 2023-2027.
In attendance was Chief Operation Officer, Director Planning, Faculties Deans: -Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Associate Deans, Chairpersons of Departments, Faculty Registrars, Unit Heads and Administrators.
Strategic plan plays a very important role to an institution/organization and to individual, thus enabling one to plan next action of plan for smooth operations.
The university of Nairobi has already developed its strategic plan for the five-year period (2023-2027) and its on the process of rolling it out to the faculties to enable the faculties to cascade to department and sections of operations
The strategic plan identified the main six (6) Key Results Areas (KRA) to be the pillar for its operations; -
- Digitalization
- Research and Community Service
- Innovation and Commercialization Ecosystem
- People focus
- Sustainability
- Teaching, Learning and Creative Works
These six key results areas have specific objectives to be addressed and forms the main focus of the University operations.
The Faculties should develop an annual work plan and customize them to Performance Contract for 2024/2025 as signed for implementation
Much emphasis on the following areas:
- Mid-term review of strategic plan 2023-2024 which should be a continuous process
- Internalization of the strategic plan
- Continuously staff support on performance contacting
Though there are many challenges facing the University, it’s a collective duty of all staff and stakeholders to ensure corrective measures are put in place to ensure the success of the University, through implementation of the main six key results identified.
