FACULTY OF VET.MEDICINE TREE PLANTING EXERCISE TO HONOUR NATIONAL TREE PLANTING DAY

Monday 13th November 2023, the Faculty of Vet. Medicine honoured iniative by the government to plant 15bn trees by 2032 to tackle the climate crisis and deforestation amid worsening impacts such as a severe drought in the country and the wider Horn of Africa region.

The Event was flagged off by Prof. Mande, Dean FVM, Dr. Onono, Chairman PHPT and Vet.Farm Manager Mr. Augastine Raila.

BROOKE E.A C.E.O VISIT

Christopher Wainwright, the Chief Executive Officer, Brooke East Africa and his team made a courtesy call to the Faculty of Vet. Medicine on 3rd November 2023.

The team was met by the acting Dean, Dr. J.O. Onono together with Prof. Samwel M. Githigia, Associate Dean, Dr. Timothy M. Wachira, Senior Lecturer, VPH/Project PI- Department of PHPT and Dr. Peter Kimeli, Lecturer & Head of Surgery Discipline, Department of Clinical Studies

OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY-GLOBAL ONE HEALTH INITIATIVE

OHIO State University Global One Health Iniative team visited the Dean's Office on 2nd November 2023

The team from OSU-GOHI was led by Professor Wondwossen Gebreyes the CEO Global One Health Initiative and accompanied by colleagues from Gondar University, Ethiopia.

Discussed was opportunities for Student Exchange, curriculum training projects, twinning of institutions to attract more international funding, strengthening existing collaborations & expanding engagement with other institutions.

FIRST ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE 2023, FACULTY OF VET.MEDICINE

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine held its First Annual International Conference on 25th October to 27th October 2023 during the University of Nairobi’s 2023 Research Week.

The 3 day conference was officially opened by Deputy Vice Chancellor RIE, Prof. Margaret Jesang Hutchinson and Prof. J.D. Mande, the Dean, Faculty of Vet. Medicine.

UON ANNUAL RESEARCH WEEK 2023

The University is set to hold the 6th Annual Research Week on Monday-Friday, October 23-27, 2023. The theme of the Conference is,  'Harnessing Research for Resilience and Sustainability of Community' 

This year's research week has 16 thematic conferences that will bring together researchers from all over the world to attend the conferences whose mode of delivery is blended for some, and virtual for others. 

VISIT BY PROFESSOR PAUL LUNN FROM UNIVERSITY OF LIVERPOOL

On October 16th 2023, Professor Paul Lunn accompanied by Dr Eric Fevre (UoL/ILRI) made a visit to the Faculty of Vet. Medicine,  where they had a discussion with Prof. Mande and Chairmen of the departments on collaboration which will benefit both UoN and University of Liverpool and their partners.

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY

The University's Health Services in collaboration with other health facilities has planned two activities to commemorate the World Mental Health Day 2023.

ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF FACULTY OF VETERINARY MEDICINE 2023

 The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Nairobi, will hold its Annual International Conference during the University of Nairobi’s 2023 Research Week. The theme of this Conference is: “Harnessing Research in Veterinary Science for Resilience and Sustainability of Communities”. Research within animal science must largely focus on supporting human development, which is constantly threatened by major factors such as climate change, antimicrobial resistance, and emerging and re-emerging diseases.
