UoN @ 50 Webinar: The Impact of COVID-19 on Food systems and effects on food and nutrition security.

The University of Nairobi marks 50 years since it was transformed into the first national University in Kenya on July 1, 1970. 

The University Management has mandated several activities to be included in the golden jubilee celebrations at various levels. One of the activities is holding of webinars on research breakthroughs at the University of Nairobi as well as topical subjects involving local, national and global challenges and opportunities.

Shamba shape up TV show:Simple Storage and Small-scale Processing Technologies for Horticultural Farmers

The Shamba Shape Up Series 10 - Ep 24 aired on Citizen TV features the Zero Energy Brick Cooler (ZEBC), one of the technologies installed at the newly established 'Innovative Cold Storage Technologies: Research, Training and Demonstration Unit' at the field station of the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences.

First years training on online learning platforms

The ICT and ODEL team trained first years on how to use and access online learning tools.The first years both undergraduates and postgraduates who reported at the College virtually, were taken through Google suite that entails a number of applications that run on google platform used for training and communication purposes. This includes Email, google meet and google classroom. All new students were required to create and have university student email accounts since its main mode of communication during this period.

University of Nairobi Research Week 2020

This will be the first Research Week event to held online due to on going COVID 19 pandemic. The 3rd Annual event hosted by the University of Nairobi will be  in October from 12th to 16th,  2020.

The week features over ten different conferences covering a diverse range of academic disciplines, one of which is bound to meet your interest and area of expertise. The conferences provide a forum to enable you to present your work, engage with your colleagues, and learn about the latest developments in your field. 

Training on Cassava Value Chain by SEMIS Project

SEMIs Project undertook training on Cassava Value Chain to TIVET students from Taita Taveta and Kilifi counties
The training was undertaken on various days including  4th to 7th November 2019 and  18th to 22nd February 2020. The training was coordinated by Prof. Agnes Mwangombe who is also the Project Investigator for the Cassava project.

STUDENTS INFORMATION BOOK 2020/2021

The Students Information Handbook has been prepared to guide and facilitate orientation of students at the University of Nairobi. For ease of reference, the handbook has been divided into four key areas.The first part covers History, Setting, University Gorvenance, Campuses and Colleges of the University of Nairobi .

One Health Workforce-Next Generation National Health Case Competition

Current students are invited to participate in this extracurricular event, where they will be challenged to come up with a solution, within a specified time, to a given One Health challenge. Students will be given the opportunity to apply theories and concepts learnt in class, and showcase their knowledge, critical thinking skills, leadership and presentation abilities while competing for the prize award.
